PM dedicates L&T's Armoured complex to the nation

India’s first Armoured Systems Complex (ASC) in the private sector, developed by Larsen & Toubro, India’s leading technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing, defence and services conglomerate, was dedicated to the nation by Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today. Honourable Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also present on this occasion.

Governement sanctions three new Naval squadron

Government of India has sanctioned, three new Naval Air Squadrons to be setup in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Besides this, the Central Government has also sanctioned manpower towards manning additional aircraft in existing Dornier Surveillance Squadrons in Kerala and Andaman Islands. It is pertinent to mention that the contract for procurement of 12 Dornier aircraft was signed with HAL (Kanpur) on 29 December, 2016 with delivery commencing in January'19. This is a substantial contract for the indigenous HAL built Maritime Surveillance version of the Dornier 228 aircraft.

Defence in Parliament - Government promoting indigenous weapons development

Through procurement of new equipment and upgrading of existing equipment and systems, the government is taking measures for modernization of the armed forces, stated the government in the Parliament.

 

The modernization projects are being progressed as per the approved Capital Acquisition Plans and in terms of the extant Defence Procurement Procedure, stated Union Minister of State Dr Subhash Bhamre in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on January 2.

 

Defence in Parliament - HAL revenue up, records highest ever turnover - Government

 

  State-owned aerospace and defence major Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has recorded the highest ever turnover of Rs 18,28,386 lakh in 2017-18, stated the government in the Lower House on January 2. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State Dr Subhash Ramrao Bhamre gave details of revenues and profits of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) from 2015- September 2018.

Year End Review – 2018 Ministry of Defence (excerpt)

It was an eventful year for Ministry of Defence. Government of India took policy decision to set up two Defence Production Corridors, one each in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Tamil Nadu. These would go a long way in making India self-reliant in defence production through ‘Make in India’ initiatives. It was also a year of another milestone for women empowerment in the country when the first-ever all-women crew circumnavigated the globe in an indigenously built 56-foot Indian Navy Sailing Vessel, ‘INSV Tarini’.
