Rosoboronexport JSC (part of the Rostec State Corporation) is organizing an exhibit of Russian defense products in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the first time.

Global defence, aerospace and security company, BAE Systems, will showcase a range of capabilities and technology solutions – including the Make-in-India M777 Ultra Lightweight Howitzer (ULH) gun system – at the 12^th edition of DefExpo which runs from 10-14 March.

Boeing delivered the 12th P-8I maritime patrol aircraft to India, on February 23. This is the fourth of four additional aircraft delivered under the options contract signed by the Ministry of Defence in 2016.

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems' BNET SDR ground communication has been selected for installation on vehicular platforms of an Asian army. The contract was signed on January 29th, following a thorough and intensive tender process. Various international communication companies completed the tender, at the end of which BNET was chosen as the optimal solution for the program.

Rubin, Russian submarine designer, has come up with the second version of BOSS (Border and Offshore Submersible Sentry) submersible patrol ship that combines the benefits of a submarine and a surface patrol ship.

It is the largest version with 72 m length and surface displacement about 1300 ton. Large dimensions bring more capabilities. New lines with wave-piercing bow and tumblehome hull  to reduce roll, makes the ship more stable weapon platform and reduces radar signature as well.

Both partners are seeking to leverage each other's capabilities to meet the growing requirements of the Indonesian Navy.

Indonesia is acquiring two Scorpene submarines which would be built locally through a transfer of technology by Naval Group.

With the increasing threat of mines and improvised explosive devices present in all conflicts involving naval forces, countries need to strengthen the protection of their maritime domain, to ensure the protection of their assets and to safeguard the freedom of civil navigation. In this regard, mine countermeasures (MCM) are undergoing a major operating transition, from traditional mine hunting to an unmanned and autonomous innovative solution.

On 30 November 2021, Naval Group has laid the keel for the first of the twelve mine countermeasure vessels of the Belgian-Dutch rMCM program, intended for Belgium. The keel laying ceremony took place in Concarneau, in the presence of the Belgian Chief of Defence, Admiral Michel Hofman, and the Dutch Chief of Defence, General Onno Eichelsheim.

On Project 75 (I)

Naval Group – We have been honoured to be one of the shortlisted original equipment manufacturers (OEM) for the P75(I) program based on Expression Of Interest (EoI) in 2019 and its result confirmed by Indian government in early 2020.

The 7th Indian Navy Frigate of P1135.6 class was launched on 28 Oct 2021 at Yantar Shipyard, Kaliningrad, Russia in presence of Shri D Bala Venkatesh Varma, Ambassador of India (Moscow) and senior dignitaries of the Russian Federation and officials of the Indian Navy.

This award follows on from the signature of the framework agreement carried by the French Defence Procurement Agency on 23 October 2020 for the study, development, production and initial operational maintenance of ten ocean patrol vessels for the French Navy. A first contract had been awarded to Naval Group for the design and value analysis and was approved by the French Defence Procurement Agency on 23 June 2021.

The US defence major Lockheed Martin considers F-21, as the perfect aircraft to team with the Indian Air Force (IAF) future fighter aircraft fleet.

“It is the perfect complement to the current fleet of Rafale and Tejas aircraft in terms of operational performance,” said Brett A. Medlin, F-21 India Campaign Lead, Lockheed Martin.

Recently, India has deployed K-9 Vajra, self-propelled artillery on the Indo-China Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Northern area of Ladakh. The much talked about K9 Vajra – based on K9 Thunder – is the latest artillery gun to join Indian Army. India is expected to buy more of these guns.

On September 28th, Nikólaos Panayotópoulos, the Greek Minister of Defence, Pierre Eric Pommellet, CEO of Naval Group, and Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to open negotiations to provide the Hellenic Navy (HN) with three Defence and Intervention frigates (FDI HN) and their equipment as well as an optional additional frigate.

BAE Systems has successfully completed the management and delivery of planned overseas support for the UK’s Carrier Strike Group 21 (CSG21). The carrier group sailed from the UK in May and has been supported by BAE Systems throughout its deployment.

Boeing delivered the first of 78 contracted Block III F/A-18 Super Hornets to the U.S. Navy.  Block III gives the Navy the most networked and survivable F/A-18 built with a technology insertion plan that will outpace future threats.

“The fleet needs capabilities to keep its edge,” said Capt. Jason “Stuf” Denney, U.S. Navy F/A-18 and EA-18G program manager. “Getting the first operational Block III in our hands is a great step forward in supporting our capability and readiness goals.”

Boeing will continue maintaining the guidance system for the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) for the U.S. Air Force under a recently awarded 18-year, $1.6 billion sole-source contract.

Nexter is participating in the DSEI exhibition, which takes place from 14 to 17 September in London.  On the KNDS stand, Nexter is alongside its partner Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and is showcasing the CAESAR self-propelled gun in its eight-wheel drive version (8x8). 

The U.S. Navy and Boeing have used the MQ-25TM T1 test asset to refuel a U.S. Navy F-35C Lightning II fighter jet for the first time, once again demonstrating the aircraft’s ability to achieve its primary aerial refueling mission.

This was the third refueling mission for the Boeing-owned test asset in just over three months, advancing the test program for the Navy’s first operational carrier-based unmanned aircraft. T1 refueled an F/A-18 Super Hornet in June and an E-2D Hawkeye in August.

Earlier this year, in June 2021, the British Ministry of Defence employed Rafael’s DRONE DOME counter-UAV system to protect world leaders during the G7 Summit in Cornwall, England from unmanned aerial threats.

The United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC UAC as part of the Rostec State Corporation) will display new products and wide exposition at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021, which will be held in Zhukovsky near Moscow on July 20-25.

Boeing is continuing to expand the Indian Navy’s long-range maritime reconnaissance anti-submarine warfare capabilities with the delivery of the country’s tenth P-8I. The patrol aircraft is an integral part of the Indian Navy’s fleet and has surpassed 30,000 flight hours since it was inducted in 2013.

On the occasion of the first edition of the DEFEA exhibition, that is held in Athens from July 13 to 15,  2021, Nexter is presenting the VBCI Philoctetes for the first time. This is a complete infantry combat  system, armed with a remotely operated 40mm CT (cased telescoped) turret from CTAi and a medium range missile launcher (MMP) from MBDA. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. announces that its Trophy Active Protection System (APS) for armored vehicles has been selected for the next phase of detailed assessment and integration by the UK Ministry of Defence for the Army's Challenger 3 MBT.

The flight of the first military aircraft to be designed and manufactured in Australia in more than 50 years flew under the supervision of a Boeing test pilot monitoring the aircraft from a ground control station at the Woomera Range Complex.

The new hybrid unmanned complex ZALA VTOL is unveiled at the IDEX 2021, International Defence Industry Exhibition and Conference, in Abu Dhabi.

The unique complex combines the best qualities of fixed-wing and multi-rotor types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). The ZALA VTOL comes with modular configuration which can be changed to suit the task at hand.

In the upcoming Middles East’s premier arms expo IDEX 2021, Russian small arms leader, Kalashnikov group is introducing its new tactical vest Modular Carry System (MCS) currently in use with Russia’s anti terror force ‘Alfa’.  

The makers of AK-47, world’s most used assault rifle, Kalashnikov Concern, during the IDEX-2021, will present AK-19 assault rifle and PLK compact pistol. This is maiden appearance of AK-19 in any international exhibition.

IDEX-2021 is being held from February 21-25 at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Russia’s famed small arms manufacturer Kalashnikov Concern, on Thursday, published a video on twitter of firing of AKV-521 semi-automatic carbine kept at -50 degree Celsius.

During the test, the carbine successfully fired a full magazine of frozen rounds.  The carbine is being tested for performance parameters for Russian winter and arctic conditions. During test, the body of the gun did not show any adverse impact from frozen firing condition.

The much talked about Indian proposal for purchase of additional MiG-29 and Su-30 MKI fighters from Russia is yet to see negotiation. Russia has submitted its proposal for 21 MiG-29 to Indian Air Force and is awaiting initiation of the purchase procedure, Russian media reported.

Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Vladimir Drozhzhov told TASS at the Aero India.

First Su-57 commissioned in Russian Air Force

The first of the 76 ordered Russian stealth fighter Su-57 was commissioned in Russian Air Force. The single aircraft commissioning took place on January 29. With the commissioning, Russia, after USA and China, is third nation to design and develop stealth fighter.

Russian private armoured vehicle manufacturer Remdizel has expressed willingness to participate in Indian market under the Make in India initiative. The company is here to participate in Aero India as part of Russian delegation.

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. announces that it has completed the second phase of Germany's Transparent Battlefield study and performed a demonstration of its BNET advanced SDR communication and its Fire Weaver sensor to shooter system for the German Army. The event took place in Paderborn, Germany, in November 2020, in front of representatives from the Bundeswehr and various partners and industries.

Leonardo DRS, Inc. and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. of Israel (Rafael) announced today that they have completed the delivery of Trophy Active Protection Systems (APS) ordered by the U.S. Army for installation on Abrams main battle tanks.

Boeing [NYSE: BA] and the U.S. Navy proved recently that the F/A-18 Super Hornet can operate from a “ski jump” ramp, demonstrating the aircraft’s suitability for India’s aircraft carriers.

The demonstrations, held at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD, show that the Super Hornet would do well with the Indian Navy’s Short Takeoff but Arrested Recovery (STOBAR) system and validate earlier simulation studies by Boeing.

BAE Systems’ Amphibious Combat Vehicle Family of Vehicles (ACV FOV) program has achieved its most significant milestone to date with the Marine Corps’ decision to move into full-rate production and award a $184 million contract for 36 vehicles. The ACV is an advanced, next generation vehicle for conducting ship-to-shore operations and effectively getting Marines into the fight.

The German Bundeswehr has ordered 31 NH90 NFH helicopters, to be known as Sea Tiger, for the German Navy’s shipborne operations. Nathalie Tarnaud-Laude, President of NH90 Helicopter Industries (NHI) and Giorgio Gomma, General Manager of the NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA), on behalf of the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support of the German Armed Forces (BAAINBw) signed the contract on 26 November. The helicopters will replace the German Navy’s Sea Lynx Mk88A fleet which entered into service in 1981.

The Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant of the Russian Helicopters holding (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has delivered two Mi-8AMT helicopter knock-down kits to Kazakhstan to be assembled on the territory of the customer.
The delivery is based on a trilateral contract signed by Kazakhstan Engineering, Kazakhstan's Aircraft Repair Plant No. 405 and Russian Helicopters for semi-knock-down (SKD) assembly of Mi-8AMT / Mi-171E helicopters. The contract, signed in 2019, provides for a total of 17 helicopter kits during 2020-2022.

November 4, 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation). The company was established by decree of the President of the Russian Federation as part of the reform of the country’s military-technical cooperation system. 

Amidst the ongoing crisis in the Caucasus region, Turkey, during a military drill, first time fired the Russian-made S-400 air defense missile systems. The drill was held near Sinop in the Northern Turkey, reports Russian news agency TASS.

"Three missiles of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system were launched. All of them successfully hit the designated targets," Tass reports.

The test was conducted on October 16.

On Remdizel’s plan for Indian market

With the ongoing China-India standoff on the northern border, India and Russia is expected to sign the much talked contract for purchase of MiG-29 and Su-30 MKI before the end of this year. Russian media informed quoting officials that work on the AK-203 and Igla-S is also moving at fast pace.

Russian Helicopters holding company (part of Rostec) and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations agreed on the delivery of the first heavy Mi-26T2 helicopter to the department's needs. The contract was signed during theInternational Military-Technical Forum ARMY-2020.

Mi-26T2 is an upgraded version of the Mi-26T heavy transport helicopter. It has received modern avionics, enabling operations at any time of the day, in adverse weather conditions and overterrain that lacks landmarks for orientation. The upgrade has also allowed reducing crew to 3 persons.

The first serial model completed its type-specific flight tests, receiving confirmation of the declared performance characteristics and implemented changes in its design.

On August 23, 2020, during the Army 2020 International Military-Technical Forum, JSC Rosoboronexport and JSC Technodinamika, which are part of the Rostec State Corporation, signed a joint action program to promote aircraft training aids in the external market. The program covers the period from 2020 to 2022.

Today, five Indian Air Force Rafale operated by Indian Air Force pilots took off from Dassault Aviation Mérignac facility to ferry to Ambala Air Force Station for entering service in N°17 Squadron “Golden Arrows”.

Navantia successfully carried out at 17:22 hours the launching of AL-JUBAIL, the first of five corvettes built for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF). Amidst the ongoing standoff in the Ladakh, India has sent out a Request for Information (RFI) to Russia for its Sprut light tanks. India has not yet disclosed the exact numbers of tanks to be purchased, sources informed.

Boeing [NYSE: BA] has completed delivery of all new AH-64E Apache and CH-47F(I) Chinook military helicopters to the Indian Air Force (IAF). The final five of the 22 Apache attack helicopters were handed over to the IAF at Air Force Station, Hindan. Earlier in March, Boeing handed over the last five of 15 CH-47F(I) Chinook heavy-lift helicopters to the IAF.

Rosoboronexport JSC (part of the Rostec State Corporation) will present to its foreign partners weapons for all segments of the global arms market at the Army 2020 International Military-Technical Forum, which will be held on August 23 to 29, 2020 on the premises of the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation at Kubinka near Moscow.

In next three years, Russian military will induct three regiments of its redoubtable S-400 long-range surface-to-air missile system. In the same time period, Almaz-Antey will also deliver four sets of S-350 ‘Vityaz’ anti-aircraft missile system, informed Russian media.

Russian news agency TASS, quoting Almaz press statement, in a report said, “All the hardware will be handed over to the Russian Armed Forces no later than 2023.”

This year Russian Army will acquire more lethal version of its main troop carrier. Russian army will induct 60 BMP-2 infantry combat vehicle with enhanced sighting and effective Berezhok combat unit, said Russian Ministry of Defence statement. The vehicles are expected to arrive in this year.

Russia makes second foray in the stealth aircraft domain. After the stealth fighter Su-57, Russia has begun making prototype of strategic stealth bomber, informed Russian media.

According Russian news agency TASS, Tupolev Design Bureau of Russia, under Perspective Aviation Complex for Long-Range Aviation (PAK DA) program, is developing a subsonic strategic stealth bomber capable of carrying variety of ordnance including hypersonic missiles.

JSC Rosoboronexport (part of Rostec State Corporation) has started marketing work to bring on the world market of armaments the 59N6-TE mobile three-dimensional radar, developed and produced by the JSC “Federal Research and Production Center “Nizhniy Novgorod Research Institute of Radio Engineering” (NNIIRT).  

United States, on Thursday, awarded ‘firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee’ contract for 21 MH-60 Romeo to Lockheed Martin for India Navy’s multi-role helicopters programme. Lockheed will get $791,700,000   from US government for the Indian programme.

On April 2, 2019, US approved “Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to India of twenty-four (24) MH-60R Multi-Mission helicopters for an estimated cost of $2.6 billion.

Russian Helicopters holding company (part of Rostec State Corporation) supplied the first Ansat helicopter for EMERCOM of Russia. The rotorcraft was handed over to the Fund supporting the development of state authorities in civil defense, emergencies and elimination of consequences of natural disasters (the Fund). The helicopter has already been handed over to the North-Western Aviation and Rescue Center of EMERCOM of Russia, and is located on Kasimovo Airfield.
