Airbus boosts ‘Make in India’ with Manufacturing Orders

Demonstrating on its ‘Make in India’ commitment, Airbus has signed contracts with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Mahindra Aerospace Structures Private Limited (MASPL) to procure commercial aircraft components.

Under the contract, TASL and Mahindra Aerostructures will manufacture metallic detail parts, components and assemblies for Airbus' A320neo, A330neo and A350 programmes. The two companies are already among more than 100 India-based suppliers that provide components and engineering and digital services for various Airbus programmes.

BEL receives orders worth Rs.1034.31 Crore

Navratna DPSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has received an order from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd for a value of Rs.695 Crore for supply of spares related to missile systems.

The company has also received additional orders worth Rs 339.31 crore since the last disclosure on 26 December 2023 and these orders relate to Combat Management Systems, Composite Communication Systems, Transmit/Receive Modules, Mobile Autonomous Maintenance Systems and other parts/services.

Brazil Commissions Second Scorpene

On January 12th, the second of the four Scorpène® submarines of the ProSub program was commissioned by the Brazilian Navy at the Itaguaí Naval base, in presence of José Mucio Monteiro, Brazilian minister of defence and Emmanuel Chiva, French General Delegate for Armaments. The Humaitá has been built entirely in Brazil by Itaguaí Construções Navais (ICN) thanks to a Transfer of Technology from Naval Group.

Successful Test Flight of Akash Next Gen SAM

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful flight-test of the New Generation AKASH (AKASH-NG) missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha at 1030 hrs on January 12, 2024. The flight-test was conducted against a high-speed unmanned aerial target at very low altitude. During the flight-test, the target was successfully intercepted by the weapon system and destroyed.
